In this episode I will be wrapping up the year. This is my final episode of 2020.
This has been a really big year for pretty much everyone in the world really.
I began the podcast, because I wanted to be able to help TGD folks anywhere in the world get access to ways they could begin to move their bodies.
Help them explore how they could transition and see that there were other people out there sharing similar experiences to them.
Then the pandemic showed up and it changed a whole lot of things, but my goal stayed the same.
If anything I became more determined to share what I knew to help as many people as I could.
There are so many ways for folks to support their physical and mental health through moving their bodies in ways that felt good for them.
I’m so grateful for all of you, my listeners for tuning in each week. Or reaching out and sharing with me and just being rad AF humans.
So many of you are learning ways to rock as your authentic selves in so many different ways.
You inspire me every day to do the things that will help make change for the whole queer community.
And not just right now but for the future as well. There are so many young people who are just starting to learn themselves and who they are and how they want to show up in the world.
Seriously this year has been an experience but it’s finally finished. Honestly it’s just felt like one giant day in my lounge room. But I’ve had so much fun making shows for you.
I’ve had the opportunity to speak to some amazing humans from the LGBTQIA+ community.
And listening to their experiences has been inspiring.
I hope that two big take-aways that you have gotten from this year and all my episodes are firstly:
You can choose to transition in any way you like.
So find the ways that help you feel good being you, whatever that looks like and regardless of how other people may have transitioned.
And remember friends, there are no rules when it comes to how you want to show up in the world or how you choose to get there.
Because other people are always going to have their opinions. Let them. But don’t let their opinion shape how you express yourself.
Live for you, in the ways you want to do that. This is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the years.
And it’s not easy to do sometimes.
Sometimes it will take a long time before you get the opportunity to make the changes that help you feel the best about you. That’s ok though.
Because there will be people out there that do support you and care for you. So take your time and those people that will back you. It can help make a hard situation easier.
And they don’t even have to live in the same area as you.
The second takeaway from this year that I hope you’ve taken on is:
It doesn’t matter how you move your body or how it looks when you move your body.
The most important thing is that it’s feels good for you.
Do your best to not listen to the mainstream bullshit that is pushed by gyms and the fitness industry.
You don’t have to look a certain way, move a certain way or train a certain way.
Health is subjective and is different for each of us, based on our bodies and the unique ways they each function for us. And healthy doesn’t have a certain look, a certain weight or a certain level of physical ability.
So feeling ok about wherever you’re at, even if it’s not where you want to be can help make life a little easier.
Because where you are at now isn’t where you’re always going to be. You can change the way your body looks if that’s what you want. Just remember it all takes time.
It just might be that some changes might be quicker than others. But that doesn’t mean change isn’t possible.
