In this episode we will be exploring how getting active doesn’t mean that there is something “wrong” with how you are right now.
The fitness industry loves to put emphasis on how the more active a person is, the better they are as a person.
Here’s the truth….
Your worth as a human has NOTHING to do with how active you are, the way you look, how you dress or act, what you eat or anything other ridiculous meaning that has been projected at people.
Getting moving or changing some of your habits doesn’t mean there is something wrong with who you are right now.
And your self worth is not based on how well you can fulfil social expectations. You’re allowed to experience your life in as many different ways as you like.
So, taking the time to learn about how you want to do you is one of the best ways to build self worth.
Now I get that this is often far easier said then done. Particularly when the messaging pushed by many trainers, gyms, the fitness industry as a whole as well as all mainstream media, is loaded with harmful messages and imagery.
These images and messages are designed to make us feel lesser than, ashamed, worthless, unattractive and invisible if we’re not doing everything we can to fulfil the stereotypes they push.
If you do decide to get active for whatever reasons that you want to, it can be hard not to judge yourself based of this messaging.
Just remember, getting active DOES NOT mean that there is something wrong with how you are right now.
It’s 100% ok to make changes in your life.
You have the power to do anything you want, regardless of what others thoughts and opinions may be.
And when you feel the time is right for you to do something different in your life, do it, and back yourself the whole way.
Experiencing yourself in all the different ways you can be you is badass.
There is nothing wrong with you right now. But, you also don’t necessarily wanna just be one way your whole life when you can be you in so many different ways.
Just don’t be afraid to try different things, you can always change your mind at any time you want.
I get that it can be really hard to ignore what others say.
The flood of toxic messaging that is across all the media, in the language people use and the way people act towards others can build up and leave you second guessing yourself and your choices.
The best thing you can do in this situation is to begin building a community of other like mind humans.
That doesn’t mean you’ve gotta rush out and meet all new friends, though, that could always be fun.
What I mean is you can start by finding other folks that are expressing the same values as you on any social media/chat platforms.
When you have people around that re-enforce your views and beliefs, it is so much easier to feel more confident in your choices.
Not to mention it’s waaaaay easier to ignore all of the toxic and harmful stuff that you may also experience outside your fabulous friend circle.
If you’re enjoying the show and know other folks that may find some benefit in having a listen, I’d be so grateful if you shared it with them or anywhere else where you think that it could help someone.
